Summer Birthday Gifts

Summer is a fun time for many people, especially if that is the time in which they were born! Making summer birthday gift baskets that can be enjoyed all season long is a fun, easy activity that can make your special someone very happy.  Here is how to go about making summer birthday gift baskets of your own.

Start by finding out what they like doing during the summer. Are they fans of the outdoors who prefer spending time under the trees over time spent next to a fan, or are they much happier to stay by the water where it is nice and cool? Even those who like to stay indoors during the summer can be given nice gifts in the form of indoor treats like an ice cream maker or some summery snacks.

From there, select a container that matches their interests. For example, if they enjoy going to the beach, a sand pail would be a nice container. Those who like camping may prefer a small cooler instead. Decorating a well-chosen summer basket usually is not needed as the container item itself becomes decorative. Any decorations added should be temporary and easy to remove.

From there, start filling the chosen summer themed container with goodies that are related to the chosen theme. The sand pail could be filled with sunscreen, chocolate sea shells, and aloe gel to round it out, meanwhile the camping cooler could contain citronella candles and camp fire starter blocks. The container itself can count as part of the gift, too, and may actually make up the largest present if chosen carefully!  If there is extra space, simply add in crumpled up tissue paper in appropriate colors to help the items stand out. A foam brick or pillow at the bottom of an especially deep container is another way to help items be showcased more prominently.

Last but not least, it is time to add on the final touches: some temporary decoration! Tying a large ribbon around the container always works nicely. Picnic blankets, towels, cooling cloths and other cloth items can also be tied up with string to mimic bows. Simply roll the edges inward, then fold the short ends so they touch at the center of the cloth. Tie a string around the short ends and gently rearrange the cloth by pulling and you have a useful item that doubles as decoration!
